Where do FactorySuite and Snap-Master work together?
- InTouch – Use Snap-Master as an “Intelligent I/O Server” to acquire and analyze high speed data (up to one million samples per second) in real time and transfer the summary results back to InTouch over DDE. This is a great combination for test stands geared towards performance testing, “Go / No Go” production testing, and machine health monitoring for predictive maintenance.
- IndustrialSQL Server - Use the special IndustrialSQL In element to read data from an InSQL database into Snap-Master for advanced data analysis and plotting.
- InControl – Snap-Master’s high speed acquisition and analysis is used by Wonderware to do performance testing of InControl’s algorithms with millisecond accuracy. Snap-Master also simulates signals to develop control algorithms, or use for Adaptive Control and Resonance Detection.
How do the FactorySuite components and Snap-Master communicate?
Snap-Master supports DDE and NetDDE, both incoming and outgoing, so it can communicate with most FactorySuite components.
What platforms are supported?
The Data Acquisition module and the Waveform Analyzer and Frequency Analyzer modules work on both Windows XP, 2000 and NT.
What is the difference between the Snap-Master that I install from the FactorySuite Partners CD and Snap-Master purchased elsewhere?
There are two features unique to the Wonderware FactorySuite Partners version of Snap-Master: the IndustrialSQL In element is included on the Partners CD, and Snap-Master utilizes Wonderware’s electronic licensing. Otherwise, the versions are identical.
What is an “Intelligent I/O Server”?
An “Intelligent I/O Server” is the combination of raw data acquisition and data analysis on that raw data. Because Snap-Master acquires data at much faster speeds than any FactorySuite component, you normally want to reduce the data passed between Snap-Master and FactorySuite. Using Snap-Master’s Analysis element (available as part of the Waveform Analysis module), you can perform complex time-domain analysis to reduce the incoming data to a few summary values. When combined with the “Intelligent Processing” capabilities of Snap-Master, which lets you describe the characteristics of the data and let Snap-Master find that data automatically, you create an “Intelligent I/O Server”.
For example, the combination of InTouch and Snap-Master becomes the software backbone for an automated test stand. InTouch is used as a SCADA tool to simulate any real world conditions by controlling the PLCs, as well as providing the main HMI for the test stand. When the time comes to perform the test, InTouch starts Snap-Master to acquire and analyze the high speed data. When Snap-Master has acquired all of the data, it passes the summary results back to InTouch which initiates a pass/fail routine to tag the part.
