Solving Analogic Configuration Problems

Snap-Master’s Configuration dialogs for Analogic hardware have “missing” DMA Channel and IRQ list boxes. This is a result of invalid values written in the HSDAS12.INI file contained in the WINDOWS directory.

In order to solve the problem, perform the following steps:

1. In File Manager, delete ALL HSDAS12.INI files.
2. Open Snap-Master – you will get and error message saying “Can’t Find Configuration File (HSDAS12.INI). Press the OK button.
3. Select the File menu, New Instrument command. Drag an Analogic A/D board in the instrument.
4. Double click on A/D element, then select the Configuration button.
5. Select your A/D board out of the Model list.
6. Press the OK button to close the Configuration dialog, then press the OK button to close the A/D Settings dialog.
7. Exit Snap-Master.
8. From Program Manager, open the Notepad application.
9. Select the File menu, Open command, and locate the file C:\WINDOWS\HSDAS12.INI.
10. The first section of the file should read [Device 0]. In this section, there should be two lines for the AI DMA 1 and AI IRQ 1 settings. These probably have values of 2048 written in them right now. Change the lines as follows:
AI DMA 1 = 5
AI IRQ 1 = 15

11. Make sure there is also a line for the AO DMA 1. If not, add the following:
AO DMA 1 = -1
12. After the change is made, select the File menu, Save command. Exit Notepad.
13. Rerun Snap-Master.
14. Again, create a new instrument with the File menu, New Instrument command, and drag an Analogic A/D into the instrument.
15. Double click on the A/D element, then press the Configuration button. The IRQ and DMA lists should appear. Configure the board with your settings.

You should only have to perform these steps once. If the problems persist, contact HEM Data for technical support.
