DawnEdit - Diagnostic Vehicle Database Editor

DawnEdit is a diagnostic vehicle database editor to import OEM .dbc files, add your own messages, and select the parameters to be acquired. DAWN includes OBD and J1939 databases as a standard feature. OEM specific, Enhanced Diagnostic databases are an option.

The database editor contains two tabs (tables): the Parameter and Message tabs. The Parameter tab contains the higher level information that is relevant to the data acquisition user and contains the scaling information. Once the data is entered into the database, the user will see this parameter information in a table after double clicking the J2534 Network icon in Snap-Master.

The Message tab specifies the message ID and the details regarding the message, such as whether it needs to be requested and whether it is from a specific ECU. By having a specific Message table, the message details only need to be specified once and then the message can be referenced by its ID in the Parameter table. This is valuable since several parameters are often contained within a given message. Referencing the message ID is done in the third column in the Parameter table from a dropdown list.

The Database Editor has the ability to:

  • Handle PIDs, DPIDs, CPIDs, PGNs, Normal/Functional messages
  • Address different Target ECUs
  • Import databases from a spreadsheet or Vector CAN (DBC) databases. Easily enter data manually.
  • Specify the parameter related information
  • Use intuitive table format
