Service Scan Tool with Data Acquisition & Data Logging
Enhanced Vehicle Diagnostics
Most in-vehicle data acquisition systems are limited to only acquiring the 96 OBD-II emission related parameters. These parameters are slow, so your sampling is limited.
Service scan tools supporting Enhanced Diagnostics provide hundred of parameters from a variety of controllers, but scan tools have limited display and storage capabilities. They also have a very limited sample rate and typically acquire data from one controller at a time.
DAWN tackles these challenges offering powerful features you won’t find in any other solution to acquire the parameters you need at the required sample rates.
DAWN has the ability to acquire both OBD and Enhanced Vehicle Diagnostics, thus providing you with several hundreds of parameters to choose from and a wide range of flexibility to display the data – including Y-T and X-Y plots, digital and dial meters, histogram, and indicators. Beyond combining the best features of a data acquisition system and a scan tool, DAWN also acquires parameters at high sample rates – up to controllers’ maximum rate of 250 samples/sec.
DAWN can do this because it supports a wide variety of Test Modes (Service IDs). Legislated OBD-II only defines modes $01 to $10. DAWN also supports the Enhanced Diagnostic modes greater than $10, offering incredible flexibility in the types of acquired data – including high speed parameters, diagnostic trouble codes, VIN, and clearing trouble codes.
DAWN simultaneously acquires various types of data from multiple controllers, including diagnostic, trouble & pending codes.
DAWN offers you many monitoring and diagnostic features. Emulating a scan tool, DAWN reads the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and Pending Trouble Codes (PTCs) defined by OBD-II. DAWN also reads manufacturer-specific trouble codes and will clear codes. These codes are also acquired simultaneously with live data so you can see the conditions that led up to the trouble code being tripped.
DAWN can be configured to detect user-defined conditions, going beyond the OBD and OEM-specific codes to detect conditions earlier or to detect additional conditions not covered by the standard codes.
When combined with NOVATM, HEM Data’s noise and vibration analyzer, DAWN detects impending problems in their early stages. For example, you can measure power steering pump sound and vibration along with the operating conditions of the vehicle to detect a power steering problem or to demonstrate quietness of the pump over its operating range.
